Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 first ride review: Royal Enfield has finally unveiled its most awaited adventure bike, the Himalayan 450, which is expected to launch in India on November 7, 2023. The bike is a successor to the Himalayan 411, which was introduced in 2016 and has been praised for its versatility and capability in various terrains. The new Himalayan 450 promises to take the adventure quotient to the next level with a host of new features and improvements. We got a chance to ride the bike for a few hours and here are our first impressions.

Design and Features

The Himalayan 450 retains the rugged and minimalist design of its predecessor but with some subtle changes and enhancements. The bike features a new liquid-cooled 452 cc engine, which is more powerful and refined than the old air-cooled 411 cc unit.

The bike also gets a fully digital color TFT display, which shows various information such as speed, rpm, gear position, fuel level, trip meter, odometer, clock, ambient temperature, and battery voltage.

The display also has a built-in navigation system, which is the world’s first full-map navigation on a circular display built with Google Maps Platform. The bike also has switchable ABS, which can be turned off for off-road riding.

The Himalayan 450 has a long-travel inverted Showa cartridge fork at the front and a mono-shock at the rear, which provide excellent suspension and handling on rough roads. The bike has a 21-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel, both spoked and shod with dual-purpose tires.

The bike has a high ground clearance of 220 mm and a seat height of 800 mm, which makes it suitable for tall riders and off-road riding. The bike has a large 15-litre fuel tank, which gives it a good range of over 400 km. Performance and Ride Quality

The Himalayan 450 is powered by a new liquid-cooled 452 cc single-cylinder engine, which produces 32 PS of power and 38 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox, which has a slipper clutch for smooth gear changes.

The engine is smooth and refined, with a linear power delivery and a strong mid-range. The engine has enough torque to pull the bike out of any situation, whether it is climbing a steep hill or overtaking a truck on the highway. The engine also has good fuel efficiency, with an average of 27 km.
